Beetle Rhind has a love of action and athleticism that was formed during a somewhat feral childhood spent mostly outdoors in North Devon, U.K. Beetle, as he’s affectionately nicknamed, gravitates toward feats of engineering, whether in the form of automobiles or the human body. He shoots motion and still photography that takes a sensory but thoughtful look at adrenaline: the clench of a runner’s muscle, the crest of a wave ready to ride, a sports car accelerating at full throttle. Through an expert use of lighting, his reverence for every subject is translated into heroism within the frame.

This trademark style has earned Beetle honors as a 2019 Association of Photographers finalist and a 2020 Portrait of Humanity winner. He is just as comfortable in a studio environment as he is shooting on location, underwater or in the wild.
